Was Ronaldo poisoned at the 1998 World Cup?

There was a big controversy surrounding the final game at the world cup in 1998 where Brazil and France competed for which team would bring home the trophy. The case was so big in Brazil that the parliament stood for its own investigation on the final match.

Brazilian team had been playing extremely well in the tournament and were favored to win, their star player was the 21-year-old striker Ronaldo which was on top of his form.

The Brazilian team went for lunch at a French restaurant but after the team came back to the hotel, an unbelievable event began. Ronaldo is lying in his bed after the lunch when he starts shaking, drooling foam from his mouth and hitting himself, his teammate Roberto Carlos understandably was in shock and ran out to get help. Ronaldo was rushed to the hospital while his Brazilian teammates went to stadium de France to play the game. Ronaldo made it back 30 minutes for the game and demanded to play as the medical team felt he shouldn't but were pressured into letting him play. France won 3 to zero.

    I did not know anything of this, i find it unbelieavable that something like this could happen in the final world cup match. Unfortunately for the brazilians the most important player that was Ronaldo had that issue.

    I'm quite shocked with this story as I wasn't aware of it. I can now understand the 3-0 win of France in that final. I suppose that the 1998 World Cup was not only won by the french players as their compatriots also helped them remarkably. I definitely think that another story could have been told if ¨El Fenomeno¨ would have been 100% fit in that game.

    I personally have heard something about this story even though I don't know if it was true or not. It could happen on any team but what I don't understand is why the Brazilians went to a french restaurant the same day that they were playing such an important match, normally teams do not leave the hotel the same day of playing a final but maybe it is because it happened in 1998 and this measures weren't take into account. Could be that Ronaldo had been doing something wrong in the hotel and the managers blame on the french restaurant? It's something that we could never know.

Historical events at the World Cup: 1994 Salenko  The 2018 World Cup took place in Russia as many people know. Although Russia is the ninth most populated country in the world with a rich football tradition but they have never really impressed on an international platform specialy on big tournements, atleast not since they first competed as Russia but not as the Soviet Union in 1994.
